OPEN CALL, Micro-workshop 2025
1. WHAT - CONCEPTUALLY ?
Micro-workshop is NEKO3’s initiative aimed at young / young-at-heart -composers. The basic idea is to create a continuous exchange between the ensemble and the new generations of artists and creative minds of our time, and to find potential long-term collaborations. We offer the participating composers / creators a safe, artistically fertile space to test their ideas with musicians. Said ideas can be anything from embryos to more developed pieces - anything that benefits the composer at the present. Moreover, we prioritize interesting ideas and people over the artistic medium or media, and are open towards exploring any kinds of ways in which the participants want to express their art. Micro-workshop has two formats: the “on-tour” version wherein we travel to do workshops at festivals and universities; and this biennially produced Micro-workshop where we invite composers over to experience and enrichen our local scene in Copenhagen.
2. WHAT - PRACTICALLY ?
We offer
*3 x 3-4 -day workshopping sessions (2x physically in Copenhagen, 1x remotely) throughout the year 2025. The second physical workshop session culminates in a cozy concert presentation on Friday the 21st of November 2025, the other two are more flexible schedule-wise between March-October 2025
*travel expenses coverage of up to 5.000 Danish kroners’ worth per participant for the two return trips between your place of origin and Copenhagen (if exceeding this, you're expected to cover the remainder yourself)
*lodging during the two physical workshop periods in Copenhagen
*a small composition fee (you're welcome to apply for additional funding yourself - should you be selected, we are happy to provide a letter of invitation / contract detailing the conditions)
*agreed-upon equipment & facilities at our work space in Copenhagen
*audio & video documentation of the workshopping and the final concert that will be released online
3. WHO ARE WE?
We are a flexible musical group. Albeit having been educated as classical pianist and percussionists, we are experienced both with different kinds of musical styles and performance media (ie. electronic, DYI-instruments, performance art, media art). Moreover, we are keen to challenge ourselves with things we haven't tried before. So in case you're wondering whether the means of expression your proposal would include works for us, the answer is most likely “yes”. (:
On our website (www.neko3cph@gmail.com) or on our Instagram account (@neko3cph) you can find documentation of our past projects.
